Khenpo Choying Dorjee

Khenpo Choying Dorjee was born on 27th Aug 1972. At age of nineteen he took Bhikshu抯 vow under H.E Gela Rinpoche. He is now one of the main Khenpo (Abbot) of Dzongsar Institute in India and a teacher of H.E Sakya Dungse Avikrita Vajra Rinpoche.

He began his study on Buddhism in 1987 and in 1992 entered Dzongsar Khyentse Chokyi Lodro Institute for Higher Buddhist Studies. There he was trained in the traditional Indo-Tibetan intellectual disciplines of Buddhist philosophy, psychology, logic and debate under His Eminence Khenchen Kunga Wangchuk Rinpoche and His Eminence Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche. He completed the full Dzongsar Shedra (University) curriculum in Hinayana, Mahayan and Vajrayana in 1999, graduating first in his class and receiving degree of Arcaya (masters Degree) in 2000. He was conferred a Khenpo抯 title by H.E Dzongsar Kheyntse Rinpoche and Khenchen Kunga Wangchuk Rinpoche in 2002 at Dzongsar Institute. He also received a Khenpo degree (PhD) from His Holiness Dalai Lama in 2004.

He also study intensive and receiving extensive lineage transmissions from some of greatest masters including Ven. Leda Jangchub Dorjee Rinpoche, Ven. Khen Rinpoche Yeshe Zangpo, H.E Khen Rinpoche Kunga Wangchuk, H.E Khenchen Appey Rinpoche, H.E Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche, H.E Luding Khenchen Rinpoche and H.H Sakya Trizin.

Since 1999 he has been teaching at Dzongsar Institute and Deerpark Institute in India. From 2007, he started giving teachings of the Buddhadharma in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and USA as well. He was recently sent to University of California Berkeley by H.E Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche in response to an invitation from the University. He had a five-month stay in the West as a Visiting Scholar
